The gist of it is based on analytics that a forward will drive possession more than a defenceman will.
He also argues that Marner and Strome's offensive IQ and puck skills outweigh Hanifin's.

If you think its a tie... yes go for the forward. But you have to pick the player you think is best no matter the position (goalie excluded). Using an average of all NHL players and applying it to top of the draft prospects doesn't make a ton of sense to me.
