What's the volume setting on the AVR? Have you tried any blurays with a very loud soundtrack?
Generally, good speakers with 90 dB sensitivity and a receiver like the 7007 is going to be able reach painful sound levels in most listening environments that most people wouldn't be able stand for more than a few minutes.
