What are the chances that the stadium and arena are not part of the same project? There seems to be a common thought that everything (arena, stadium, fieldhouse, restaurants, hotels, theatres) will be in the West Village. But is there enough room on those plots of land? I'm not so sure, particularly if they're floating around plans for office towers there as well.

Is it possible that the new stadium eventually takes over the land where the Saddledome sits today? Instantly by having a stadium there the potential dates of use more that double:

Ten days of use by using it for the Stampede Rodeo. Heck, I've heard rumours of them looking at extending Stampede. Model the use after how they use the Texans stadium for the Houston Rodeo. You can guarantee nice weather with a retractable roof, the seating layout would work better and get people closer than the grandstand does now. They would also have extra revenue streams with more club seats and boxes. Plus the stampede board has to be thinking that the current grandstand is nearing the end of it's own lifecycle.

Ten nights of use by using it for a series of big name Stampede concerts. Have one a night. On the flipside, if the Flames vacate the saddledome the Stampede board may lose their current concert capacity completely and that is a big revenue stream for them.

I'd suggest another 30 dates where the space could be used as extra exhibition space as an extension of the BMO centre.

All of the above would only really be possible at the Stampede location.

If built elsewhere we could still be looking at:

A potential MLS team would be at least 17 games.

If the stadium is designed correctly and they can find ways to attractively reduce capacity for certain events they could be looking at 10-20 concerts a year outside of during Stampede.

5 special events per year. Things like international soccer & rugby, heritage classics, grey cups, monster truck shows, queen/pope visits, UFC, WWE etc

& of course around 10-11 Stampeders games a year.

If they can get it on the Stampede grounds at land an MLS team it could be a 100 date a year stadium, which is pretty impressive.
