I honestly think we will all be pleasantly surprised at the cap-friendly and FAIR contract Gio signs. I don't think his injury will affect what he gets. It's not like he has random injuries popping up all the time like Jones or Smid. All of his long-term injuries have been flukey hockey plays that could have happened to anyone, but they happened to him since he's on the ice all the time. Durability isn't a question for him. Maybe if he had lingering concussion issues like Horton it would come into play.
And to those saying he's not irreplaceable, why don't you ask Bob Hartley that question and see what he says. Ask Treliving what he means to the team and if he would consider trading him. It's not happening, and the team sure as hell isn't listening to offers no matter how good it might be from a fans point of view. This isn't the same as the Iginla situation.
