Why ditch a good prospect who is nearly ready to go pro in favour of a 2nd round draft pick, which would inevitably yield a prospect a couple of years further away from playing? It's a ridiculous argument and I'm glad we won't see that happen.

Agree. As has been mentioned before, he's younger than almost everyone in his draft year (for whatever that's worth). While he may not be the prospect that Feaster optimistically predicted, he's not chopped liver.
We've had other first rounders that were slow developers - Eric Nystrom was a higher 1st round pick (10th) that didn't produce at a point per game in NCAA, but he's turned into a pretty decent NHL player.
