Backlund will be pushed down the depth chart by Bennett/Monahan.
He will be a valuable trade piece. He is injury prone, not great at faceoffs and not physical enough to be a good 3/4th line center. Flames should trade him for some help on D. Hopefully Bennett/Monahan are putting up enough points next year that we can afford to deal Backlund mid season.
