No. What that says is that people value initial upfront cost budget vs. interval maintenance costs and vehicle longevity budget. While cars such as corollas and civics have lower sticker price they also have shorter maintenance intervals and a shorter economic life, unlike some (read: some) higher-priced european imports. Classifying cars by country is pointless anymore. It really is about finding the car that best suits your own financial circumstances. For example, you may not be able to afford the fancy/reliable car now, but you can afford higher maintenance costs. Then a "cheaper" car might make sense. It's like buying a new computer. They all do the exact same thing (car gets you from point A to point B). It's a matter of how often you want to replace it (so long as you weed out and properly classify the correct cars).
