CALGARY/AM770CHQR - Moving Calgary's smoking ban up by one year is sure to generate some red hot debate at city council Monday.
Alderman Diane Colley-Urqhart is expected to put forward a compromise motion that calls for the ban to be moved up by a year at all establishments EXCEPT those that have built separate smoking rooms.
Those establishments would be allowed to continue to operate the smoking rooms until 2008, while all other bars and restaurants would have to go smoke-free as of January 1st, 2007.
