Welcome to Calgary — population one million.
While the official number determined in the April census is 991,759, Mayor Dave Bronconnier is declaring that with the population growing by 98 people a day, the first baby born after midnight tonight is the city’s millionth resident.
“It’s an important milestone in our history,” Bronconnier said. “What’s happening in Calgary is nothing short of phenomenal.”
Is this a good thing/bad thing?
Pro: more international flights, more entertainment (concerts)
Con: more traffic, more people in the mountains
