Don't get me wrong, I am a little uneasy about the potential for it to backfire. Even though put the chances of Baertschi being an effective NHL player at less than 50%, this one would hurt if it backfires.

Why do you think that? It was the most talked about trade on HF during trade deadline day.
FWIW, Benning was high on Baertchi due to his time in the WHL. I'm assuming that Benning has ignored the regression ever since and is hoping Baertchi can return to the player who lit up the WHL.
