I strike this up as one of those business of hockey things. It clearly wasn't working here for either side so they both moved on. It happens every year.
With Sven, I just see him as average. Average skater, average shot, average passing and hockey sense. He doesn't have the size and compete level to make up for that. You put Jooris' determination in Sven and you probably have a hell of a hockey player.
With the comparison to Gaudreau's poor play of late you still see Johnny bust his ass after making a mistake. He backchecks hard and tries to get the puck back. Same for others. I never saw that out of Sven. You usually got slumped shoulders and head down.
