Yeah a PPG pace is not exactly a bad sign for Smith, but it doesn't tell us much.
You've seen him, physically he's a grown man (and a big one at that), and he's playing against teenagers.
So his numbers dont translate well into telling us about NHL potential. And if anything, they are still on the low side for an oversized over-ager playing junior hockey.
His AHL numbers will tell us a lot more.

He's not an over-ager yet according to CHL rules. He could play his overage year next season and if he did, I wouldn't see it being a big problem in his progress as he has a late birthday and his size brings into needing to get his co-ordination in sync.
