This day was inevitable. If it wasn't today surely Baertschi would have been moved at the draft regardless of him forcing the Flames hand. Fans were always going to be underwhelmed by the return on him because he had an inflated value to Flames fans. We all saw the junior highlights then the emergency call-up performance cemented he was going to be the next big homegrown talent with the team heading to a rebuild. He was the Flames Taylor Hall. As it turns out it was two wingers drafted behind him in that same draft that eventually took his spot in the organization depth chart. Take away the entitlement issues and the fact is the Granlund and Gadreau are simply superior players. Heck if the Flames can turn the Canucks 2nd round pick into another Granlund this trade is a big success.

Maybe Sven can get his act together in Vancouver or maybe he's simply the player the rest of the league thinks he is given that it sounds like teams weren't overly interested in the former first round pick.
