Which is more or less irrelevant. They don't need to win the Cup, they just need to remind South Floridians that they still exist.
That's exactly the problem. It will take a playoff appearance to start filling those empty seats. Florida is notorious for its fair-weather sports fans. Until the Panthers get into the playoffs, they won't even be on the radar in the local media.
At this point, moving up into 8th could make the difference between keeping the team in Florida and having it sold and relocated. From a hockey standpoint it's foolish. From a business standpoint, it may be their last chance to save their investment. The marginal value of moving up one place in the standings is enormous.

we are gonna have to agree to disagree, nobody cares about hockey down there and Jagr or a few playoff games is not going to change that. They are doing better than they have in a long time this season with good young players and have record low attendance.
As a hockey trade its an obvious bad move I don't even feel like it needs debate...in a couple months they won't have Jagr or the picks
