Not sure why fans think the team is throwing the towel by not overpaying for a middle pairing defenseman. This team has played their best hockey this season when injury riddled and while Giordano is probably the guy they could afford to lose the least it's a chance for Brodie to take his game to the next level and if last game was any indication he may have another gear. I'm not counting them out and I think management showed today they like their team and have faith in the guys on the roster. I'm thankful that the team didn't overpay for a rental player like Petry. Really how much would Jeff Petry help this team down the last 1/4 of the season? Maybe a little but not that much as it's not like he's helped the Oilers win anything.
