Baertschi is in the same situation with the Canucks in that he's going to have to be on the roster or he's going on waivers where any team can claim him. No different than when the Flames picked up Colborne. Fortunately for the Flames the season was a miserable one so they could afford to give Colborne lots of ice time early on when he struggled but on a team that wants to make the playoffs the rope will be shorter. It was doubtful that he was going to make the Flames next season as a full time player so getting a 2nd for him really isn't that bad. The problem with a player like Sven is that you have to play him top 6 as his game doesn't suit a bottom 6 role.
