On to Sven, he's just not that great. Sure maybe he'll beat the odds and turn it around but he doesn't have great speed, a great shot, great playmaking or great hustle. He's good or decent at those things but if he can't even hack it as an offensive threat in the AHL what are his chances of being an NHL player? Very small. A 2nd rounder is great value.

Being anointed the successor to Iginla certainly didn't help but he's not the first young player to be burdened with expectations. He just didn't have the mental makeup to deal with the harsh criticism that comes with being a pro. Like a lot of junior players he had enough all around skills to dominate against players not destined to play in the NHL but nothing about his game is elite as a professional player. I think he still has a chance to salvage his career in Vancouver but he still needs a lot of work.
