You can also give ACAD a try for evening courses. I took some photography courses when attended ACAD for my BFA and a lot of the initial focus is mainly on composition and the rule of thirds.
I'm not sure if Mount Royal offers any evening courses but they would be another good place to check out.
As far as buying the EOS I would recommend that you find the best price in the city, then go to future shop and they will price match plus discount 10% of the difference.
