Problem I have with this (I'm not a doctor), is that he's not coming back at 100%, and instantly that becomes an excuse when his play is subpar. I'm really tired of the Jays in particular using injuries as an excuse. If it were me I'd want the guy to have the regular surgery to have him good longer term, but I'd want to open the wallet a little to get a replacement (either through a signing or a trade). I haven't read the article, so pardon my ignorance, but from the outside it seems like the team (and probably Saunders as well), just want the short term benefits of forcing the comeback. I just don't want any excuses from the team if he's not back 100%.
