He is a RW, good size, and not completely offensively inept. He has been better in international play than in the KHL, and was badly misused (like Edmonton levels of misuse) in Phoenix. He has also stated a desire to return, which could seriously light a fire under a player desperate to play in a higher league.
There is a really good chance he becomes a solid threat for somebody on a second or third line. Worth the gamble, at our weakest position. And you are right, he can be had at a tremendous discount.
I would be targeting Burmistrov in Winnipeg as well, for the same reasons, if it ever made any sense to trade with Winnipeg for any reason. Which it doesn't.

We can promise him a small moon, and the chance for exclusive rights to talk to him would be worth a throw in, IMO.
