He is that important. Calgary was terrible without him last season and things likely aren't much better this season.

You do realize that no one knows the extent of the injury? (which might be just for one game)
It was a "Game-time-decision" which meant there was a possibility of him playing in this game. Management and Harltey probably know that they would rather play with out Gio for 1 game rather than the risk of further injury and play without him until April.
Let's calm down people. Giordano and the Flames will be O.K.
