Couple of thoughts on the show itself. I agree that NPH had a rough night. The Oscars are supposed to be fairly high brow in its delivery, and he brought it down a little too far. The 'magic box', underwear, and the comment after the speech about suicide showed he was relying entirely on planning, and not at all on his ability to improvise.
I would like to see Eddie Murphy. I was actually a little disappointed that when he presented he kept everything completely straight. Going with any more 'tv stars of the moment' for hosting duties would be a mistake. I could see them letting Jay Leno drift into the background and then emerge from the fog as host.
Lady Gaga did a great job, and I thought that I would never say that. Also, John Legend and Common gave a performance worthy of the Oscars. Theatrical, professional and emotional. Even Tegan and Sara with Lonely Island lifted up the overall production. I usually tune out all Oscar musical performances as horrible.
Pretty happy with the award winners. No real upset. Would like to see some more love for scifi and horror in the nomination process.
Prediction that Terrance Howard gets over his reputation of being difficult and hammers out an Oscar winning performance in the next couple of years. And now I'm off to touch the face of Adele Dazeem......
