They are bloody refugees evacuating a war zone. Like every other mass refugee exodus in history, the road to saftey is perilous and unpleasant. They should just be glad someone cared enough about them to rescue them.

I have to agree.
Personally, I think when people become residents of another country, then the Canadian government should no longer be at their service anyway. The vast majority of the "Canadians" being evacuated are repatriated Lebanese who never had plans to ever come back to Canada. We really don't owe them anything.
Don't get me wrong, I'm glad we could help... but a little bit of gratitude is in order.
