Pretty straightforward

Take a player like Gaudreau who has 44pts this season but is only making 1.85 million. Then take Crosby who has 58pts but is making 8.7 million. Crosby $150,000 per point. Gaudreau $42,000 per point. All the poster is saying is that if you have productive players on entry level deals they are the best bang for your buck (greatest value). This is pretty obvious. Having Gaudreau on an entry level deal gives you cheap elite level scoring and allows you to spend the extra dollars in other areas. It definitely makes constructing a contender a lot easier.
