I think he goes to the AHL, and buys some time for the Flames, both to see how he does, and, figure out where the Flames are in two weeks. That, not coincidentally, also would be just post trade deadline.

Depending on where the Flames are standings-wise then, feeling-wise, and what moves they are able/willing to make at the deadline, and ultimately pull off, it factors into where Bennett is going (and for how long).

Something to be said for having a player who's projected to be on the team for 5-10 years, get a taste of what it takes during a playoff run as a player and as a team, assuming he's earned it on his rehab.

If the Flames make deals, then maybe he goes back to Kingston...or if they don't, he's the "free" player they couldn't acquire. Or they make deals, and they still want him, because he'll play protected minutes up to his 9 games, and then have a final decision.

All sorts of factors...but give him 2 weeks in the AHL; the Flames are headed out east after tomorrow's game, so they can keep a very close eye on him for the next week. See how the trip goes results wise, see what the trade deadline brings (or takes away), and on March 6th, figure out where he plays next.
