IMO only reason to expand his list is that a) Anaheim doesn't really want him b) Flames asked him to so they could try and create a bidding war in an attempt to increase Anaheim's offer
I suppose you could make a case that Treliving told him to expand his list or he would finish the season as a Flame, but who would want a malcontent on the team.

I posted in this or another thread that Murray typically doesn't go for rentals. Despite having two second rounders last year he wouldn't trade one for Cammalleri despite having the asset and space to do so. Turned out to bite him in the ass as he could have used Cammys goal scoring in the Kings series. For this reason I don't see the ducks as a reliable partner and hope that Treliving finds a better deal elsewhere, unless he can bring murray to his knees and make him overpay.
