I've changed my mind somewhat. I wanted to keep Glencross initially, but the more I think about it, the less it makes sense. This is not Jarome Iginla or Jay Bouwmeester we are talking about here. Curtis Glencross is at best a 2nd line winger, at worst a 3rd line winger. His impact staying or leaving the team should be minimal.
I think Curtis Glencross is good for about 5 goals more than whoever his replacement is. I like Granlund, Wolf, Poirier, *young player we trade for*, etc... but I still think Glencross is a better goal scorer at this point. Glencross is a streaky player whose shooting percentage is down almost 5% from his career average. He's going to get a couple more goals before the season is over.
If 5 goals, or whatever Glencross' increased production ends up being is the difference between us making or not making the playoffs, we really don't deserve to be in the playoffs.
Also, looking at the so called trade bait list, I don't see many high profile wingers. I see guys like Daniel Winnik, Jiri Tlusty, and Chris Stewart. Glencross is a better player than all of them. People might be surprised at the return we can get for Glencross.
Finally, my most important point. I really enjoyed watching Glencross play here. People will probably associate him as a the face of the "we should have rebuilded sooner" era. I think he has been a good player for the majority of his time here.
And lets not forgot, he was a free asset. He got burned by the Oilers and burned them every time we played them. He is yet another in a long list of players mismanaged by the Oilers. It really is salt in the wound that has had such a productive career with Calgary over the years.
He has 240 points in 7 injury plagued seasons. I honestly don't know what more you guys want from a player who has never made more than 2.55 million/year with the Flames. I wish him nothing but good luck wherever he ends up (and we know it won't be Edmonton

)
