Not a winning strategy at all, nope.
However, for a rebuilding team that was expected to be a bottom dweller this season, having trailed after two periods in only 28 of 58 games (less than half), that's not too shabby.

Looking at just the numbers, no it's not bad at all for a rebuilding team. But when you look at how the Flames play, they're a completely different team in the 3rd period compared to the 1st. We've seen them have the ability to go toe-to-toe with any top team in the league in the 3rd, but in the 1st period against those same teams they get beat in every aspect of the game. I don't know what Hartley and his assistants have done to try and get this team ready for puck drop, but they need to figure out something soon if they want stay in the playoff hunt
