Without knowing the intricacies of the system the Flames are playing, it's difficult to declare with certainty was in the wrong on the OT goal - Johnny or Wideman. Conventional systems dictate that the 3rd player back (ie. the first forward back) take the high attacker in the case of a 3 on 2. Same with a 2 on 2 - the back checking forward's primary responsibility is to keep his head on a swivel and make sure their high man doesn't get the puck.
Bottom line is that it was probably Johnny's missed assignment but can't say for sure. Not that it really matters.
