Glencross' salary is great, but on this team, it's not really that big a deal. It makes him great trade bait though. And after this year it's totally a non issue.
I only want Glencross kept if he's going to be re-signed. Otherwise, he's not the key to making or doing well in the playoffs, and the Flames will have squandered their best UFA trading asset.

It applies to all Flames over that period. I don't think it should be dismissed so quickly. Part of leading a team over a 4 year period is longevity and consistency. He is roundly criticized for being injury-prone, so the flipside (leading the team over an extended period) should also be tabled.
Finally, it isn't just a longevity thing. From 2010/11 through 2012/13, he was: 3rd, 2nd and 1st on the team for goals. Last year, he was 2nd in GPG but only played 38 games.
I am fairly indifferent to trading him (as long as the return is worthwhile) but some of the hate - and complete disregard for facts - around here is amazing. (not pointing a finger at you)
