I was listening on the radio this morning about how England, the USA and France were all estimating evacuating something like four or five thousand citizens each. Canada on the other hand has forty thousand apparent citizens. It is not my position to say who should or shouldn't be a citizen but several good points have been made about Canada perhaps being too lax in this matter.
Why does Canada have that many more Lebanese-Canadian citizens than the other, more heavily populated countries? Personally, I feel that everyone that wants to be evacuated should be but I wouldn't rule out them paying their own way. Something about this whole situation feels like Canada is being taken advantage of to a certain extent. Anyway, I hope it is a learning experience whatever the outcome.
