Every single sushi place I can remember going to in Calgary, in order of preference/frequency:

Sakana Grill - Good lunch combos, good prices, does sushi boats and steak as well. There is better sushi out there, but I really like the variety and prices at Sakana. Just all around good. (Too many damn birthdays though).

Globefish - Really good rolls, good combos, good prices, has parking.

Hana Sushi - Best all around 4th street location. Exactly average in terms of quality and price. Good combos.

Zen 8 - Expensive, but quality stuff. Don't like the combos. usually order off the sushi list. Huge pieces, usually cut my usual order in 1/2. Good variety of Tempura.

Sumo - Same owner as Sakana, minus the good lunch combos.

Towa Sushi - Expensive, closed for lunch right now (staffing problems I think). Grizzly bear sized fish pieces, unwieldy to eat. If you have to cut it, it's too damn big.

Sushi Kawa - Ok sushi, pretty good combos, somewhat small portions. 24/7 sumo wrestling on the TV.

Uptown Sushi - Inexpensive, more of a take-out kind of place, kind of like upgraded "mall sushi".

Fuji Yama - Small pieces, prices ok, occaisionally get frozen fish.

Sushi Hiro - Don't really have combos, expensive compared to others, nothing really compelling about it, other than good tuna.

Tokyo Garden - Been awhile since I've been there. Remember it being pretty average.

Sushi Boat - Sub-par, but serviceable

Sushi Box - Had a bad meal once, warm fish... blech.

Kyoto 17 - Just not good.
