In a bit where they were told to make up spoilers for this season, Robert Kirkman used it as an opportunity to really spoil something huge that happens in the comic timeline soon:

"Eventually a character named Negan is introduced. He's going to bash in Glenn's brains with a baseball bat called Lucile."

There were audible gasps, likely from the few audience members that knew the comic's story. Josh McDermitt thought it was hilarious that he "spoiled" it.

That's great. Now, the question is, does that mean it will actually happen on the show the way it did in the comics, or did he say that because that's not what will happen on the show?

Very little of what happened in the comics happens the exact same way on the show (among other things)...

Shane dies much earlier in the comic than he did on the show; Tyrese is introduced much later in the show than in the comic and survives a lot longer; Dale survived past the prison in the comics; Carol was completely insane in the comic and died while at the prison; Darryl doesn't exist at all in the comic; Andrea doesn't suck in the comic; Lori and Judith both die in the battle at the prison in the comic; and so on and so on...
