As far as a chain of events goes, there hasn't been a cut-and-dried version, but to the best of my knowledge Dagenais wanted his sister out of his house, and the RCMP wouldn't assist him in doing so (in his words). From there things are a little iffy, but the RCMP got called because he had "allegedly" assaulted his sister.
RCMP showed up, told Dagenais he was being charged with "assult with a weapon" and he flipped out, took off in his truck. RCMP then followed, bumping him etc. to try and wrangle him in. Apparently he lost control eventually and came to a stop. Now here again things are a little iffy, but Dagenais contests the RCMP then shot AT him, so he grabbed his gun and fired back, which is when the 2 officers were injured.
It was then that he took off, on foot...only to be found yesterday by a couple living just outside Mildred (which is right near the scene). This couple apparently were the ones that talked him into turning himself in and out of committing suicide. They also drove him to the police station so he could turn himself in.
To be honest, everyone around here thought he'd committed suicide too...if not, they figured cops would find him...nobody guessed he'd turn himself in.
He was in court this morning and he'll stay in custody until mid-August. I think the most interesting thing is the role his dad played in it, because he's charged with obstruction of justice....so the soap opera isn't over yet.
Just crazy stuff, making for some busy/long days too.

The part that get me is how the guy got off two shots to head of trained officicers? Something is missing here. Not suggesting there is anything "dirty" going on but sounds like there need to be some adjustment to policy or training. The small clip I saw after the deaths the cruiser did not look like it was damaged by gunfire. If it turns out the accused is right (doubt it) how could they miss and not him. Intered to know if or how many shoots the RCMP got off after the car stoped.
