I guess I'm not as surprised with Monahan because I recall reading the scouting reports about his maturity and the stories last year how he was all business. To me he seems like one of those players that just gets it. Understands that he's always going to need to work on his game and isn't going to try and make a career off his skills alone. I think I posted early in the season that I felt he would be okay because of this. Still it's good to see that he's actually getting better and not suffering the dreaded sophomore slump like MacKinnon.
I'm not nearly as surprised with Bouma and Jooris type guys having career seasons as we have seen even Tim Jackman score double digit goals for the Flames as every year you are likely to see a bottom 6 guy have his career season.
