Obviously he didn't want the plane to crash and the whole thing was overblown but to me it was illustrative of how bad on air he is. Classic case of trying too hard to be funny when you're not, and he pushed it to a place that was just weird. Which boomer does with regularity. The ad libbing to me is them struggling to fill airspace, which a good radio show can do quite easily. Other good radio shows like rome and Tim and Sid can talk about other things without it feeling disjointed and laboured. Their regular features like "clean it up" (blatant Come On Man ripoff) and the "they in....you innnnn?" bit makes me want to ram my head through the windshield.
