I'd keep the Mastercard. It can be handy for places that don't accept Visa (ie. Costco) and yes, if you keep your balances low and pay them off monthly your credit score will eventually go up. Plus, depending on how long you've had the Mastercard it may lower your credit score if you close it because your credit utilization rate will go up.
