Prospects are fine and dandy, but the Jets needed a equivalent player to Kane coming back. They are done re-building and need to start winning now.
They needed to make a Turgeon for LaFontaine deal, not this.
Buffalo wins this IMO.

They deluded themselves into thinking they could somehow get a Kane equivalent (minus the problems) who is healthy and ready to play now for Kane. Why would any GM trade an effective player with no attitude issues for a talented, yet injured for the rest of the season, player who's a known disturber of the peace? It would be a terrible move.
