700 to install a motor? That's highway robbery.

But, I'd also look at it to see why 'it's not working' - is it the thermostat? the breaker tripped? the belt off? etc.

replace it with the same horsepower (1/3) but you dont need to be the same make. In fact, if you have a choice, get the most efficient motor you can.

if you are in Calgary, I can give the number of an electrician who does side work and may be able to help. (PM sent)
