There was so many questions that could be asked regarding the events in that room. After all this time how did a weak small teenage zombie manage to sneak up behind the guy in the first place? He knew the house had active zombies in it when he walked the hallway. All of a sudden he forgets to be on his guard because he is mesmerized looking at photos on a wall??
Sorry but that was lame writing and further evidence to me that they just figured they would dispatch a character while the writers are trying to figure out where to go from here.
