I would rather hand Barts and Bennett a roster spot and glue them to the 1st or second line than try and see what we can do with E Kane after sending Bennett for him. I think the problems that transpire would be less than taking on Kane. Kane doesn't fit in our system IMO. Barts is getting there and Bennett seems like he does. Fit is higher for both our players as well as better overall attitude. Bennett is a C vs winger. I wouldn't even expect their combined totals to exceed Kane next year either (But surprise me next year Calgary Flames style kids).
I get this "rumor" isn't even fully legit, but assuming it was, I believe in my statement above. No to Kane. We have some good pieces we can work with.
