I would be willing to bet that he was willing to stay still and hope that the problem went away as oppose to move a young player and possibly make a mistake.

Don't think it's fair to say that Cheveldayoff is completely incompetent for not trading Kane, especially now we can look at it retrospectively.
We've got a number of posters and I'd imagine many people who think other organizations could turn this kid around and reap the benefit of a top 6 power forward who can score boatload of goals. Is it wrong to imagine that Winnipeg considered and gambled for the same? I believe the Jets even brought in Kane's parents at one point to help him acclimatize to the team and whatnot. They wanted him to succeed. They made a mistake in not shipping out Kane from the start? Sure, I don't think anybody disagrees. Saying that they were turning a blind eye to what is ultimately a spoiled person is just wrong.
