I think Cheveldayoff is a GM all to content to do nothing and mire in mediocrity instead of taking a risk. There was a great article over the summer about how little he actually does in trading.

I would be willing to bet that he was willing to stay still and hope that the problem went away as oppose to move a young player and possibly make a mistake.
