It makes me wonder at the difference between how the Jet's team and management have handled this situation as compared to another franchise, like Detroit, Boston or Calgary.
Somehow I have a feeling that Gio (with Wolf bench pressing a grizzly bear in the background), would be able to get Kane onside. In fact, I can't think of a player on the Flames who would think that throwing someones clothes in the shower constitutes 'leadership'. Burke, during one of his crazy hair days, stomping down the hallway would be enough to reel in any shenanigans pretty quickly as well.
Winnipeg seems like a pretty delicately balanced team, and it wouldn't surprise me at all if Kane thrives in a place with more history and structure. The NFL has been brought up here several times, and they have many more personality issues than NHL teams do. The football teams with a coach/manager/owner who commands respect/terror consistently finds success and very few disciplinary problems. The teams that are weak/young in this respect are absolute disasters.
Kane's problems are most likely magnified as a result of his environment. Put him in Detroit, and I would bet that most of them go away. Put him in Toronto or Edmonton, and he will become Godzilla.
