There was a thread on here years ago and one of the posters (who was a cop, IIRC) said something like "they (transit officers) get in fights all the time". I figured that meant that they can take you off the train, and might have to get into a fracas to do so.

A couple of years back I watched a pair of Transit officers double team a guy on the train. He had no valid proof of payment when they got on at Lions Park. He was quite belligerent with them both, making his sob story/F-U/Rent-A-Cop tirade quite audible to everyone in the car. When the doors opened at SAIT he tried to make a run for the door (it was a bad error on his part, both transit officers were built like brick ####houses). One officer dove for the legs and the other grabbed his shoulders and slammed him to the ground. I've never seen a verbal tough guy turn into a wimp so fast. They flipped him over on his stomach to subdue him and then it turned into a youtube video in real life. He was screaming about broken arms and assault and pleading for help from anyone around him. It was quite the visual and audible delight until I got off at Sunnyside. My only regret is that I was having so much fun that I forgot to bust out my iPhone and record it.
