The league doesn't allow officials to speak to the media and he got caught so he got suspended for a game... I don't see the big deal.

The NHL can't have refs talking and giving opinions in the media as that will put more calls into question and just create more controversy. Can you imagine if one ref called out another ref for a bad call? Why would the NHL expose themselves to that?

He also had a game to ref that night.
