The Flames are in an odd position. They're a rebuilding team that wants to acquire assets for pending UFA's but they're also a team that is battling for a playoff spot.
Bringing in a guy like Stewart for a couple prospects doesn't fit the MO of a rebuilding team and moving a guy like Glencross out doesn't fit the MO of a playoff team, but combined I think it could work very well for the Flames.
I think realistically Glencross would bring in more, or at least better, pieces than you'd ship out to bring in Stewart, but you'd still bring in a guy who could bring a lot of the same things that Glencross brings, mainly the floating and offensive zone penalties... (I joke because I love)
Stewart's size and position would help balance out the Flames forwards who are loaded on the left side throughout the organization. Plus it would be fun to see what Hartley could get out of the guy.

I agree with your points, but there is zero chance that Glencross waves his no trade to go to Buffalo.
Edit: sorry reread your post. Yes Glencross's return coukd outweigh the potential cost.
