One thing to keep in mind though, is that his actual salary declines a fair bit over the life of the contract. This makes him (somewhat) attractive to a floor team in 2 or 3 years.
I am not worried at all about the salary for 2 years. By year 3, it would be great to move him if at all possible. And if the Flames were willing to retain some salary, combined with the fact that his actual salary is less than his cap hit, it might not be impossible to find a home for him.
