that article is some pretty bad doublespeak, and a poorly-written article, even for The Sun.

The real target here is IRFAN which seems dodgy. MAC may have some complicity in IRFAN's actions but any connection is so tenuous at this stage that this is just irresponsible journalism by the Sun.

Specifically, it's pretty disingenuous to suggest MAC cut ties with IRFAN some time after it ought to have known better. MAC stopped giving funds four years before IRFAN was raided (which was a day before IRFAN was declared a terrorist organization and which was in April 2014, so almost a year ago)). In any event, the info on MAC giving funds to IRFAN between 2001-2010 (when they stopped) was obtained directly from CRA which means MAC was disclosing the info of their donations to the government. There is no allegation of MAC's continued funding in the warrant after 2010 (otherwise I would assume it would be in the article), except for the one example they mention...

Someone from IRFAN walked out of MAC with an envelope nearly a year ago and the RCMP suggested in obtaining the warrant to raid IRFAN that envelope could obtain cash from MAC. Sure, I suppose. But even so, how much? MAC's not the one being targeted by the RCMP. It's IRFAN and the SUN is trying to throw MAC under the bus with it. To the extent the SUN wants to claim MAC is funding a terrorist group, it is a pretty weak allegation.

I'm not saying to be lax against monitoring potential terrorist activities, but if you actually read the article it's not as sinister as it appears to be (unless, like the Sun, you believe all muslims are up to no good). At least it isn't yet in a great place like Canada where we actually have due process. But hey, if you can get a truly vacuous 2nd post in and write "the hate runs deep in that culture" why read the article at all?
