The NHL is attacking the wrong problem. They're treating the symptom rather than the root cause.
Guys are embellishing and diving because refs aren't calling hooks and slashes. After the 05 lockout they had to regularly be reminded to reinforce the rules to prevent obstruction. If they don't, it creeps back into the game.

I dunno... I think you have your cause and effect backwards. I think players dive more now because it is easier to get those cheap hooking and slashing calls.
